About us

“The Archimede Seguso’s Museum Foundation” is a private institution created in 2016 with the objective of building and opening, in Murano, the Museum dedicated to the greatest Master glass artist of the Twentieth Century.

The collection of glass pieces by Archimede Seguso, made available by Grande Officer Gino Seguso should be rendered available to a wide public and not only to a chosen elitist few.

The necessity for a place to hold such works arises, and at the same time, given the evolution of the works of Murano, in order to not dissipate this great heritage of practical notions, a school which will transmit the creating and workmanship methods of Archimede Seguso is necessary. The Archimede Seguso’s Museum Foundation is interested in building and managing the Museum, the School and every activity aimed at maintaining the memory of the Maestro alive.


A shape from 1950 by Archimede Seguso, “Il Cartoccio” (“The Cornet”) was the inspiration for the architectural concept of the Archimede Seguso Museum. The project, which was designed by Architect Beatrice Ciruzzi, has also obtained the approval of Frank O’Geary, who visiting the sites where the museum will be headquartered, shared the idea and the form. The great collection which will be held in the glass museum, inspired by the cornet, embraces a great part of that artistic glass production of the Twentieth Century which in the biography of Archimede Seguso is well highlighted in terms of pieces and techniques.

This very special project was created by chance, out of love, as a fitting tribute to a man, to his work, and to a tradition. If we keep in mind that today much of “Murano” is in the hands of not very farsighted merchants, we understand that we are losing our traditions, the origins and the continuity of our story of the tradition of the glass of Murano.

This project must be shared, sustained, supported. Knowledgeable patrons must have the possibility of sustaining the initiatives put into effect for the valorization and for the promotion of this thousand year-old art so that it does not fall into the abyss of ignorance and oblivion. To these people we offer our applause and our thanks and we believe that the Italian institutions owe them much gratitude.
